This is a Piasa Bird. It's a dragon of sorts, considered to be of Native American origin, and mostly known from a mural painted on the side of a bluff in Alton, Illinois. A fan of my work grew up near this mural, and suggested I make it part of my monster sketches. I enjoyed bringing my own take to this beast quite a bit.
